Borneo teak

Borneo teak, which grows in Masoala, has a wide distribution in tropical rainforests stretching from Madagascar to Australia.

Borneo teak grows to a height of up to 25 metres. Other trees from the same family are true primeval forest giants. One species, native to South-East Asia, grows to a height of up to 80 metres, making it one of the largest trees on Earth.

Borneo teak, which is (unfortunately) still commonly known here as a tropical timber, is closely related to the Madagascan teak, but originates from Malaysia and Indonesia. The bark of the Borneo teak has a pockmarked and furrowed appearance. Borneo teak timber is highly resistant to termites, acid-resistant and weather-resistant.
